Our half term was spent in Beer, in Devon, just 30 minutes away from the beautiful beaches of Lyme Regis. One of our first days was spent in the harbour, crabbing, followed by exploring the quaint little shops. We were lucky enough to have Colin's cousins, who are expert crabbers, with us to show us the ropes. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I had never been crabbing before! The crabs were few and far between, though after a couple of hours we did end up with a bucket-full. The boys' attention waned a little, waiting for the crabs to appear, but they were so excited to pull up the nets and see what was inside each time. Joshua was also thrilled to explain to passers-by what we had caught!

When we woke to glorious sunshine on Wednesday, we celebrated with breakfast on the patio followed by a drive. The beach was absolutely packed by 11am, but we managed to find a spot of sand not far from the water to camp out - I held down the fort with my book while the boys splashed in the sea and played in the arcades. We dug a huge hole, made a castle with a moat and ate ice creams - the perfect day on the beach!
