101 days to go! Things are slowly starting to seem more real, I bought suits for the boys and gave Colin marching orders to sort his out, finally ordered the paper for the invitations (I know, I know!) and a few other DIY bits and bobs. Pinterest has been my favourite this week, I just love how much inspiration there is! Trying to really narrow down a theme, we have a colour scheme but I have so many ideas I'm not sure if they'll all fit together! I have butterflies starting up in my tummy, I am beyond excited!

Everyday style.

Leather jacket, tunic & leggings: H&M // Chambray shirt: Forever 21 // Trainers: Karrimor

We started Uni late last week, which meant I got to drop the boys off at school (but not make it home until bedtime, meh) and as it was quiet, I couldn't resist a few quick shots by my favourite photographer. I'm loving the background, I think it'll be fun to do a few here as the plants grow. the outfit is a winner too, being born in the 90's means I enjoy a little grunge, like this feels. Plus it was super comfortable for sitting in lectures all day.My posing needs a little work, as does my hair. Sheeesh. I'm struggling to decide whether to go for a light or dark brown, opinions?

Life Lately.

My creation
First week of term, done. Made some little changes, hopefully for the better.
Bedtime routines lengthened, incentives for little procrastinators in the morning, encouraging creativity. Spending our evenings reading, drawing. Exploring poems, novels and of course, picture books. Talking more, fighting less. Being in the moment.

Linking up with the lovely Hannah from Make, Do and Push for #TWTWC this week.

Another week of the Easter holidays, gone. We did make the most of it though. The weather was glorious! Out nearly every day, picnics, park trips, hair cuts, bike rides. Not to mention the BIRTHDAY celebrations. Five, you guys, I can't even. Back to normality next week, school runs, uni days, no more chilling in our pyjamas, or spending every waking hour outside. Counting down till half-term already!

A Superhero Party.

Untitled

Untitled

A really simple, Marvel Superhero party for my boy's fifth birthday. We decorated with retro posters from Amazon, Marvel memorabilia and gold balloons. I bought an Avengers cake from ASDA, Avengers plates and cups from eBay and went with red for all the other details. The giant number balloon is becoming a fun birthday tradition. Daniel's presents were Avengers themed too, Captain America to add to the collection of figures, the Marvel encyclopedia and the Lego Marvel game for the Xbox.
Thankfully it was warm and sunny so we let the boys run around outside, chasing bad guys and playing football, before ushering them in to make superhero masks. I found a template online, cut them out of card, threaded elastic through and let them go to town decorating. Lunch went down a storm, I forgot how much boys eat! Thor hammer cheese and pineapple on sticks, pizza, mini sausages and chicken bites and crisps, proper party food. A quick game of pass the parcel before dessert; jelly and ice cream and cake! It was just a small, short party for the kiddos, and our families came over in the afternoon for tea and cake too. Daniel had an awesome day, he had so much fun and was so spoiled, we are so grateful to everyone who came and celebrated with us or wished him a happy birthday!
I am pleased I didn't put myself under pressure with a huge Pinterest inspired event, with everything we have going on, as he enjoyed it just the same!

Happy Birthday baby!

FIVE.

Untitled
A few of my favourite photos from the last year.

I am almost lost for words. FIVE.
I am watching this little boy grow up into the kindest, sweetest, most hilarious and incredible kid. He makes me smile a bazzillion times a day with his jokes and compliments, he is such an awesome big brother and the greatest little helper. Watching him grow and learn is so cool, the fact he can read and write now is just mind blowing.
I am just so, so proud of you, Daniel Kyle. Thank you for making me a Mama, for starting our family and for making every day since absolutely magical. Happy Birthday my love, I truly cannot believe you are already FIVE.

Life Lately.

My creation

We are loving the Easter holidays - picnics, bike rides, park trips, art & crafts, gardening, naps and even a night out out! Keeping busy is clearly the key to keeping us all happy bunnies.

Ten on Ten. April 2015.

An unusually hot day, it seems we have missed jacket weather and gone straight from coats to t-shirts! We poured over our library haul instead of watching cartoons this morning, which was refreshing. I even snuck half an hour to read my own book, a textbook for uni but still. I'm in spring cleaning mode, utilising the time I have plus it's Daniel's party this weekend, so after I cleaned the oven and kitchen surfaces we went out the front to ride bikes. I'm trying to encourage Joshua on the big boy bike as he's doing so well with his balance bike but it's not as easy as I expected. Pedalling is hard. Grandad popped over & we had a play date with my friend Kelly and her daughter, we watched Toy Story 3 and played in the garden. Joshua skipped his nap and boy it showed, we were in tantrum city this afternoon. I started counting down till bedtime at around four o'clock. Two picnics in one day though. We spent most of our day outside, so hopefully we'll all sleep well tonight. I'm going to do some reading while I wait for Colin to get home & hopefully we'll get to watch a show. TGIF, right?
