Darnit. I was SO on the ball yesterday morning, until we left the house. We went to visit my Nana and then to a baseball game so I was too busy making sure the boys didn't knock over any old people/get hit by a ball/clamber into the nearby stinging nettles/fall off their camping chairs for the zillionth time to take many pictures. This morning started lazily, as our summer mornings often do, with cartoons in bed whilst Mama gets organised. I decided to take the boys swimming, to get them some practice before we go on holiday, but I didn't get any pictures. I was so proud of them both, we spent two whole hours in the pool, and by the end they were both so comfortable in the water. Joshua's such a little water baby, immediately he started jumping in and kicking his legs. He had a little float jacket on, but he slipped a few times and got a wet face and he just laughed about it! The lifeguard got a couple of big frog "kick board" floats out and he happily swam about kicking his legs completely unaided by me. I'm thinking of buying him one to take away, to help his confidence and get him used to floating. After a lot of coaxing and playing, Daniel ended up swimming completely by himself (with armbands!). The cycle ride home was obviously very tiring, I couldn't believe how difficult it was to pull them both along! All that swimming must have worn them out because they slept forever, meaning a very late lunch. We heard a rumble of thunder and both boys freaked out and hid under a blanket, so we made a fort and read books inside to cheer them up. All decked out with duvet and pillows, it was very cosy, we even had a picnic tea in there. Those late mega naps bit me in the butt at bedtime though, as I spent an hour lying on their bedroom floor!
