I am a self confessed bookworm. Even thought I have only read a handful of books since the boys were born I love getting wrapped up in the stories of someone else's life, and go into a sort of trance! We have hundreds of books in our house, it really is crazy, the boys have a bookshelf in their room, and there is another one downstairs, plus the ones that are scattered all round the house. I would absolutely love a giant wall to wall library full of books, but that probably isn't happening, at least not in this house! Despite all these books we still have our favourites, the ones we read over and over and over again. I may have these particular ones memorised from the millions of times I have read them. I even remember reading a few of these as a child, which makes them even more special to me.
Whatever Next!, a favourite of Daniel's that sees a sweet little bear taking a trip to the moon. He loves to reenact this story, with his wellies, a wash basket and a colander.
Ouch! I Need a Plaster! is probably Joshua's favourite book. When he was younger if he heard the first line "Ness the Nurse has a nice kind face" he would crawl towards it like grease lightning! A fun counting story, with rhymes and body parts too.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt is one of MY favourites, I know it by heart and can often be found telling it to the boys as we walk home, especially through the deep dark forest! A lovely story about a family who go out looking for a bear, you'll never guess what they find!
Dear Zoo with the fantastic lift the flap pages, is a sweet, simple story with lots of animals. My boys like making the animal noises as we open each flap, so cute.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of many fantastic books by Eric Carle. With lots of different food and opportunities for counting, it also introduces the life cycle of a caterpillar to little readers.
The Gruffalo is a fun, rhyming story about a very brave mouse and a very scary Gruffalo! We love the animated version too!
