A quick park stop on our way home turned nature hunt when Joshua found a little acorn. It makes me laugh how easily fascinated children are. Joshua spent so long trying to put the hat back on to the acorn, and then trying it on himself! We gathered leaves, acorns and conkers on our walk, stopping to look at the trees they came from along the way. When we got home, I decided to keep their interest a little longer by adding paint in to the mix. Daniel chose the colours he wanted & I covered the table, just in case. Joshua loves anything creative, he insists we draw every day, so he loved this - most of it even stayed on the paper this time! I showed the boys how to print with the leaves, but they were just interested in painting them. The interest didn't last too long, but I had a blast printing leaves! We did some crayon rubbing later in the week too, and have been using the leftover in a sensory box. I think we'll be heading out for a few more nature walks this fall!

001. I'm STILL sick. It sucks, a lot. I'm feeling a lot better in myself, have more energy than before but my mouth is still hurting so much! I have a couple of spots on my tongue now, it feels like it did that time I accidentally ate a whole pineapple - my mouth feels raw! My gums are all painful and red too, and my teeth are playing up. If it's not better Tuesday I'll go to the Dr, because a whole week of this is ridiculous - I can hardly eat! Rant over.

002. Mama got a new phone! It took me forever to set up, because I was feeling so awful, and I have yet to transfer my number over but I LOVE it! I went with the iPhone 5 because it was cheaper & I'm not all that tech-savvy, I just wanted the better camera. I've gone a little crazy taking pictures this week with it, they are so crisp and light! Happy B!

003. I'm thinking about a total blog rehaul, changing the look, the name, everything. I can't really decide if it would be worth the hassle first, and I can't decide on a name either so it won't be happening any time soon! Just a pre-pre-warning haha! I'm looking for something simple, whimsical & I'd like to head slightly further into the lifestyle world of blogging, just for fun. We'll see.

004. I'm starting to get organised. I bought some Christmas presents this week, as well as some gifts for my Godson who is due at the end of this month & we'll be celebrating in a couple of weeks! I got out some of the Halloween bits & we did some fun 'fall' themed activities this week. Another nature walk & a leaf garland are on the to-do list now, along with getting myself to a coffee shop for a fancy hot drink! I'm not a coffee drinker but I'm almost hoping I can be convinced otherwise!

005. I am crazy proud of my amazing fiancé, who ran a Half Marathon today (with hardly any training!) in 2 hours 14 minutes! He did it with his friends from work, for Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service. "Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service was founded in 2007 with the aim to provide a children's hospice service for all children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses in Berkshire and beyond. We have land + planning permission + with your help we can raise the money to build it." If you can, please sponsor him, and his team, here. We celebrated with Dominoes and a family movie night watching Alvin and the Chipmunks, perfect!

Daniel, excited about finding a leaf on our nature walk. A new sticker for writing his name at school, so proud.
Joshua, we have spent many an afternoon snuggled up together, the soft toys are a new addition. He's obsessed with a tiger & a fox in particular.

The cooler weather we've been having has inspired me to get back into the kitchen, somewhere I love to be. Cooking and baking are two of my favourite things, probably because another one is eating! I can spend hours browsing Pinterest and other sites for recipe ideas, I'm always pinning sweet treats I just can't resist. When I noticed the other morning we had a few bananas going brown (which never normally happens because they're eaten too quick!) I knew just what we would do. After nursery, we came home and rolled up our sleeves. It makes me smile that Daniel enjoys helping me in the kitchen, despite the fact it drives me mad how much mess we make! I decided to add blueberries too, to make them more of a breakfast choice, and both my boys love blueberries and bananas! They were delicious, if I do say so myself. Do you like cooking with your little one? Comment and let me know what you last made together, I love comments!

FEELING awful. I've had an especially nasty flu-type virus the last few days, I haven't been this ill for YEARS. My glands are up, my throat is sore, my whole mouth hurts & I have some ulcers, I feel achey and lethargic too. So incredibly thankful for my amazing parents, my Mama who came round as soon as I SOS texted her 'I can't do it today' yesterday morning and got the boys, and this morning too, and my Daddy who took the afternoon off to help me out yesterday too. I felt so terrible that I couldn't look after my boys, but I really did need a day to relax and just get better. I'm feeling okay not, still not great but getting there.

EATING Nutella, from the jar. It's been that kind of day, and my throat's still to sore to eat much. I added some Greek Yogurt to the tiny bit that was left, saving washing up too!

WATCHING Orange is the New Black on Netflix. I'm about five episodes in & I'm disturbed but intrigued. My girlfriends recommended it so I'm going to stick it out.

PLANNING our weekend. Colin's off, my cousin is coming over to play, we're going to Colin's parents for dinner Saturday, Sunday he's running a half marathon so I'm hoping to get some quality time in with my boys. We haven't done much this week, obviously, so I want to make it up to them. I'm on the hunt for somewhere to go after school tomorrow to get milkshakes!! A little Friday treat, something I'm working on making a tradition!

Short and sweet tonight, I'm exhausted! Linking up with Randalin over at Harvesting Kale

If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will - to your surprise - miss them profoundly.
- Thomas S. Monson

This has been on my to-do list since June! Inspired by Milk Please Mum, who posts the most gorgeous pictures, always. This week I'm focusing my attention on the boys more, and trying to ignore the messes around us until it is 'tidy up time'. Teaching my boys a little accountability, without being a nag. Trying to see the good in the millions of toys scattered around, the clutter that comes with two children - I wouldn't change any of it for the world.

Daniel, chilling. Moments after this his brother jumped on his back & they lay down together "sleeping"
Joshua, playing. Moments after this he was standing on the sofa, jumping up and down. Wild child, that one.

001. Our week has been spent being creative (I've taken on the reputation as 'the arty one' at school & am being forced to create amazing displays, such as the world map, out of paper. I'm quite enjoying it actually!) the boys have taken a real interest in drawing and colouring, which I love because I do too! How cute is Joshua sticking with Nanny at toddlers?! Planning some bigger projects for next week.

002. Daniel's also taken up building as a favourite hobby, just check out the towers he made earlier. He was crazily cute about it, making it perfectly symmetrical and concentrating so hard! I'm on the hunt for some activities to encourage this too! Loving being more purposeful with my time, it's making me so much happier to really focus on my boys (even if ignoring the mess in the kitchen is driving me a little crazy!)

003. Feeling so inspired at the moment! In the kitchen, around the home (I'm designing a couple of gallery walls & looking for some cute printables for our bare walls!) My photography is lacking at the moment, so I'm determined to bust out my big camera for the 52 project tomorrow.

004. I put in my first book order for my new business! So exciting, working my way through the process and learning along the way. Plus, I bagged myself some half-price and free books, winning! Hoping a little closer to Christmas things really take off!

005. We're having a lush weekend, full of grandparents & good food. I'm trying to have a major cleaning session so everything's done, I'm halfway through my to-do list so far! I'm getting, and hopefully staying, organised!

646. Five Fall Things on Friday.

Untitled
Alliteration Queen. I could have gone for fantastic Friday but I decided that was too much.
This week has been madness. Complete, and utter, madness. Joshua's under the weather, with a fever, cold symptoms and lethargy. He won't sleep at night, unless on me, and even that's fractiously. I'm blaming teeth, he had the all clear from the Dr today, so fingers crossed they come through soon so we can all start sleeping, in our own beds (Colin's camped out on the sofa because he's like a bear if he's woken during the night!). I am exhausted, trying to balance work, housework and the boys too, blogging's coming in last. Which is okay with me, because I'm realising posting every day is probably a bit OTT (coming from someone who has thousands of unread posts in her reader!)

Five things I love about fall, to try and get me excited about this season despite all the rain!
1. Boots. I'm loving a cute ankle boot this year, with tights and a dress or skinny jeans. I bought the perfect pair from H&M, and I might actually wear them to death before Christmas.
2. Blankets, thick socks and hot water bottles. I love to be cosy.
3. Cooking & baking. I just want to grill all the things in the summer, but now it's cooler I'm excited to get back into the kitchen!
4. Scarves. I love how they can instantly update an outfit, I'm on the hunt for a cute floral one.
5. An excuse to cuddle up and watch movies with my boys. I'm planning lots of movie dates, with popcorn too!

iOS7 anyone? I've just updated my iPad, and I don't hate it. I don't have room on my phone, I need to back up all my picture onto our external hard drive and disks before I can get my pictures off again! I'm looking at getting a new iPhone too, I'm due an upgrade!! Excited Mama.

A morning spent in Windsor, browsing the shops for a special treat for my Star, dodging the rain & feeding the ducks. I couldn't resist when I noticed Colin & Daniel's matching outfits, grey skinnies & navy quilted jackets, how ridiculously adorbs! & the bear hat on my baby?! I'm surprised I'm not dead from all the cute.
