Head to toe H&M!

BORROWING books from the library this morning. We went for a walk in the sunshine to get some books about animals. I'm hoping to take the boys to a farm next weekend, and even to the zoo for Joshua's birthday!
DANCING like a maniac to Daniel's children's CD's! My neighbours must think I'm mad but he thinks I'm hilarious! We've been having some serious KISStory dance parties too!
BUILDING puzzles galore! Daniel's rediscovered his love of puzzles, after I moved them all upstairs in a clear out last week! He's actually really good at them, I don't do much at all! We talk about the pictures too, make animal noises & watch videos on YouTube to learn more about them. I love his inquisitive little mind!
THROWING a rainbow party for Joshua's birthday. Small & simple! I've been pinning like mad, there are some fantastic ideas out there!
BUYING nothing this month. I'm putting myself on a spending ban for June, until I get paid at the end of the month. As I've mentioned before, money's pretty tight at the moment so hopefully this will help!

Joshua's first experience with crayons, he was pretty fascinated. The perfect medium for little hands, though they were put into his mouth just as much. A masterpiece I plan on framing, teeth marks and all.

Exclaims "Oh my word!" When he's excited about something.

When asked something, he replies with "probably" before his answer & says "Oh-hokey-dokey-den"

When he sees his brother in the morning, or after a nap, he sings "Good morning, good morning, it's a very special day!"

"Oh look at me, I look so cute" Daniel was wearing one of his Nana's hair clips, Claire replied 'Oh, don't you look cute!' & he said "Yes, I know I'm cute!"

Calls peas "peeps", animals "amnicals" & lions "yi-yuns". Little mispronunciations that I'll miss one day.

I was explaining that I have trouble opening bottle caps, and said it was ridiculous, Daniel pipes up with "Yes, I know it's ridiculous!"

"Mummy's going out tonight, to see her friends" "Oh no you're not! You have to stay at home. That's why you have a best friend Daddy!"

We were reading 'A Quiet Night In' about a family of elephants & Daniel asks "Do elephants have ding-dongs?" which is what we call man-parts!

563. Returning to work after maternity leave.

Next week, I am going back to work. I am so grateful that I was allowed, and that we could afford, for me to take so long off. I took a year for my maternity leave, and it has simply flown by. I cannot even begin to fathom how my baby will be one next month. I remember waddling around on my swollen feet, my gigantic belly preceding me in every room, like it was yesterday. I work part-time, as a teaching assistant, at a school just around the corner from me. The school where Daniel's pre-school is, and where he will be attending nursery in September, and where I went when I was younger. I love my job, I have always wanted to work with children, and teaching is so rewarding.

Being a TA is the next-best-thing to my goal career. When I got pregnant with Daniel, I was part-way through my teaching degree, which obviously has been put onto the back burner. I plan on returning to university next year, work-based, which means returning to work now. I am in the perfect position to do it, and feel like I have to go back because the chances of me finding another job this great is slim to none. I have worked there for two years, I did work placements before that, and I went to school there before that, so I know the school and staff really well. The fact that I only work mornings, until 1:15, and have the holidays off is perfect for the boys. I still get time with them, every day, and when they go to school I won't have to worry about childcare for half terms etc. So, basically, they are the pros for going back to work.

The cons? Leaving my boys. I have LOVED being home this last year, spending all day every day with the boys and never missing a thing. Especially with Joshua growing so quickly and learning new things all the time, I would hate to have missed anything. With Daniel, I didn't plan on going back to work at all, but was offered a job when he was 10 months, and decided to take it. I found it hard being at home all day, I was putting too much pressure on myself to do everything, and needed some grown-up time. Now, I feel like I have a good balance between playing with the boys/housework/social life, so I'm not itching to get out of the house. We have a good routine, the three of us, and I'm worried about messing that up. Though I'm sure we'll settle into a new one fairly quickly, even if I do have to be more organised.

Luckily, eventually, I have sorted out some childcare arrangements I am happy with, which makes me feel happier about leaving them, with people I trust. I simply can't afford to put them both into a childminder for the whole time I am at work - it would cost me £200 a week!! I was also super nervous about letting them go to a stranger, no matter how qualified she was. So I have sorted out a hodge-lodge of my favourite people to give me a (very much appreciated) hand. My best friend, the boys' Godmother, will be looking after them on Mondays and Wednesdays. Daniel will still be going to pre-school Mondays & Tuesdays, so she'll pick him up for me, and my Dad will pick him up on Tuesdays & head over to get Joshua from my friend Beckie. Thursdays my brother is looking after them both for me, and Fridays they are going to a childminder. I know her from our Toddler group, she is really lovely and when we went to see her last week Joshua had a great time playing with all the toys and her 2.5 year old son.

I know they will have fun, and will be well cared for, but I am still worried about leaving Joshua especially. Currently, I can't even pop upstairs or to the toilet without him screaming after me, so I know this is going to be hard a first. I can only hope and pray he settles quickly, and fingers crossed this will be a good thing for us, to sort out his separation anxiety and maybe even his sleeping! A girl can dream. I'm only actually back to work for seven weeks before the summer holidays, so it should fly by. Writing all this down has made me feel much better, much calmer and much happier, about returning to work. It'll all be worth it in the end.

562. Our Week in iPhone Pictures [083]

001. We had a busy week, trying to fit in as much as I can before I go back to work. Next week's half term & everywhere will be busy so we made the most of it this week - soft play, swimming & multiple visits for Grandma's house. My parents have gone away for my Dad's 50th (HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!) so we're looking forward to having them back this week!

002. Teethings a beyatch. That's all I have to say on the matter. On a related note though, since Joshua's too teeth have come through he bites down when he latches, it only hurts for a second but has anyone got any tips for stopping him? I've tried adjusting his latch but it doesn't seem to do much!

003. Daniel filled his 'Good Choice Jar' again, and got a Muck (from Bob the Builder) They're basically BFF's now, he comes everywhere with us! We're loving the jar, Daniel gets a marble each time he makes a good choice - like sharing with his brother, doing something he is asked first time, or being helpful - and it's really helpful for preventing tantrums

004. When did my baby get so big?! Look how HUGE he looks in that mirror shot! He's starting to walk a little, only a few steps at a time and he's pretty hesitant, but definitely walking! I let him attempt to feed himself mince & brown rice this week, though he did use his hands to shove fistfuls in and then tipped the bowl out all over the highchair!

005. We have had the most wonderful Bank Holiday weekend, so far at least! Saturday started with my wonderful fiancé treating us to breakfast, before we all headed to a party for Daniel's friend Elliot at a local soft play centre. The boys had a blast running riot, whizz ing down the huge slides & eating cake! Then we headed home for a whole family nap, played in the garden & ate dinner all together. Today we made pancakes for breakfast, and I had a wonderfully long, hot bath while J napped. Colin went out to watch some golf so the boys and I headed to the park so Daniel could practice on his bike before lunch. We spent the afternoon in the garden, a couple of my girlfriends came over for a BBQ so we sat and chatted while the boys played football. Perfection. Tomorrow Colin has to work, boo, and we're going to his parents' for dinner.

Another hanging-around-the-house-morning, breastfeeding friendly outfit. Leggings are my go-to on lazy days, so comfortable & acceptable in public (unlike pyjamas, boo!) A patterned cardigan and a bright lip to jazz up an otherwise pretty boring outfit. The lip colour is from Boot's 17 range, and the colour is gorgeous, long-lasting and doesn't dry my lips at all! Winner. My adorable initial rings are from the Etsy shop Mimic Design, and were my Mothers Day present. Mary-Anne, the shop owner, is truly one of the loveliest people I have ever e-mailed. The customer service was impeccable, even when I made her wait forever before I could give her my ring size, she was so courteous and friendly, a pleasure to work with. I love these dainty little rings, with the letters of my boys, sitting alongside my engagement ring, they make me smile.

EATING scones with cherry conserve, drinking a Diet Coke. This is becoming a cheeky nap-time ritual!

LOVING Criminal Minds. I've been watching it daily too, at nap time. I find it fascinating, and I love the way you can't stop watching! Plus, I'd watch pretty much anything with Derek Morgan's arms in! It actually lead to a pretty weird dream last night, where I turned into a ninja to arrest George Clooney!

MOVING just my left arm, the other's under a sweet sleeping baby, and typing with one hand in this position is killing my wrist!!

TAKING the chance to do as much as I can with the boys, before I go back to work in a little over a week! This morning we went to soft play, and tomorrow we're going swimming with Nana. I'll still have afternoons with them, but that doesn't leave an awful lot of time after naps.
