VISITING the zoo on Saturday! I'm probably more excited than the boys, we're going for my friends' birthdays' and there's about a dozen of us going - lots of laughs to be had and extra hands for the babies!

WORKING on organising Daniel's third birthday and Joshua's Christening! We booked the latter last night, for the first weekend in May, and Daniel's is April so I'm now in major planning mode! Etsy and Pinterest galore! I think we've decided on a Pirate theme for Daniel's party, as his current obsession is Jake and the Neverland Pirates/Peter Pan! Shh, I just ordered him Jake and Captain Hook from the Disney Store for his birthday, as they're having a 20% off sale!

CREATING delicious meals in the kitchen. From purées for Joshua, to refreshing smoothies, to delicious healthy dinners! I'm having a lot of fun experimenting and making things I'm actually excited to eat instead of reaching for biscuits and chocolate all the time! I'm looking forward to sharing some of my favourite recipes too!

LOVING teaching Daniel his alphabet! It's amazing to me how he can learn so much so quickly, we've only been doing a little phonics with foam bath letters but he remembers it all! Little sponge! We're also working on numbers and it makes me so proud when he sees a number two somewhere, points it out and announces 'I'm TWO!' He's growing up so fast, and although it scares me half to death it's so fun to watch!

MISSING overlapping nap times aka my me-time. I'm trying to get Joshua onto a regular napping schedule, but it's not coordinating with Daniel's right now which is great because it means I get one-on-one time with them both, but not-so-great because I don't get a chance to relax (or nap!) during the day. I love that quiet time in the middle of the day, even with Joshua asleep on my chest (which I also love, and miss when Daniel's awake so I have to put him down in his cot to sleep!) I still have the chance to watch a couple of shows or catch up on blogs. Fingers crossed I can shift our schedule a little to accommodate me for once!

Bathtime. Bubbles, splashing & animal toys. Baths are part of our night-time routine, a routine that we have done since Daniel was born, to wind down for the night. Both the boys love baths, and would probably quite happily play in there for hours if I let them! Joshua has decided, in the last month or so, that he is too grown up for the baby seat and wants big boy status, sitting (or standing!) in the bath like his brother. They are just too adorable together, I just had to grab my camera! I'm on the hunt for a more natural, or sensitive, baby bubble bath too, as we have some sensitive skin issues but LOVE bubbles! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

These pictures aren't brilliant quality, they were taken with my iPhone and they are VERY blurry. But I love them. I captured the sweetest moments between these brothers, hugging, tickling and laughing. They make my heart happy.

I just snuck into the kitchen and ate the last piece of lemon drizzle cake. No sharing, and really it was two pieces. No regrets.

Genuinely contemplating getting a mini straight jacket to fit Joshua, for diaper/nappy changes. I physically can't hold him down, little wriggle butt!

I went out the other night with some girlfriends, after the boys were in bed of course. I put on my lipstick while the boys were in the bath, and when Daniel came into the room he said "Look at the state of your face! There's all pink on it! Let me get you a wipe!"

I've broken my Frugal February spending-ban. But Forever 21 are doing an extra 50% off sale items so I got some coral jeans AND some hot pink shorts for £8! I've been hunting for both for ages so I couldn't pass up that kind of bargain!

I'm pretty certain sleep training, and controlled crying, have actually made our sleep situation worse. Joshua will only nap for 20 minutes at a time, and wakes up SO grumpy. Luckily, lying on my chest as listening to The Lumineers will often settle him again, but it's not ideal.

I worked out earlier, using the Xbox Kinect & a fitness game. Honestly, the fitness test wore me out a little, and I only managed one 5 minute toning workout, because then Joshua was getting sleepy. Yes, i could have carried on once he was in bed but instead I relaxed on the sofa & read blogs instead. Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

498. What Daniel Eats...

I thought it would be fun to share what my toddler eats on the daily. Like most other two-year-olds, Daniel is rather fussy and I often struggle with ideas for meals for him. I love reading blogs that share food pictures, for inspiration, and wondered if y'all would appreciate seeing what we eat too. It's also a way to encourage me to become more creative, if I have to show others too! Without further ado...

Untitled
Crackers, cheese crisps, cucumber & apple slices.

Untitled
Jam on wholemeal toast, banana slices & mango chunks. Followed by a yogurt.

Untitled
Dinosaur lunch. Dinosaur shaped sandwiches, cheese cracker & cucumber slice 'boulders'

Untitled
Everyday breakfast. Cheerios and fruit, grapes today.

Untitled
A quick and easy tea, Daniel will often request chips, they're probably his favourite! Fish fingers, chips, peas and cucumber.

Untitled
A toddler version of spaghetti bolognaise. Spaghetti, penne pasta, and mince cooked with onions, grated carrots and tomato passatta.

This week, I thought I'd share my meal plan too, for a little more inspiration, as I love seeing these posts! I honestly don't know how people don't meal plan, I love it! Sometimes I change the days around, or something comes up but more often than not we stick to it. I usually plan Tuesday-Tuesday, because that's when our shopping gets delivered! Daniel, and even Joshua, will eat a variation of what we eat too.

Monday: Chilli Con Carne with brown rice.
Tuesday: Egg fried rice with carrots, peas and chicken/Quorn pieces.
Wednesday: Going to my Mum's for dinner.
Thursday: Chicken/tofu stir fry with noodles.
Friday: Fish and chips.
Saturday: Homemade potato wedges with burgers.
Sunday: Roast.
Monday: Chicken/Quorn & chickpea curry.
Tuesday: Pizza.

01. I've loved having my parents around this week, just for an extra pair of hands and grown-up conversation! Daniel's going to be pretty sad when he wakes up tomorrow and we don't go to Nanny & Grandad's, but to pre-school instead. Hopefully he'll settle back into his routine easily.

02. I'm on a total smoothie kick, I've been making a big jug in the morning and drinking most of it during the day! I love that they're so healthy, and that they satisfy my sweet tooth! Daniel's not a big fan, but I'm hoping to win him over! My favourites so far have been strawberry & banana, and a green smoothie with mangoes, spinach & almond milk.

03. I've reached 100 followers on this little blog! That might not seem very many, but for a girl who writes just to capture memories, and make some friends along the way, it's huge! Thankyou all SO SO much for reading, it means the world to me, really!

04. Daniel has been loving our HappyLand play set this week, asking to get it out every day. His imagination is literally developing before my eyes, and I've been encouraging him to act out little scenes and conversations with the people. It's probably as much fun for me as it is for him!

05. We're going to the zoo next weekend! We were supposed to go on Wednesday with my parents, but our car broke down on the way so we never made it! I was so bummed, and so was Daniel, so when I realised we had arranged to go for my friends' birthday AND we were going by train, we were pretty excited!!

Joshua, fixated on his brother, like always. Those eyes amaze me, they seem to change from green to blue and back again.

495. Wishlist. Forever 21.

I'm on the Frugal February bandwagon, along with Heather. My maternity pay stops this month, and with our mortgage to pay, we're tightening the purse strings. I'm somewhat determined to not spend any money, except on necessities. I may have bought a packet of biscuits with the last pound in my purse, as I had a friend coming over for coffee, but that's it. I've made exceptions for V-Day and for a girls night I have coming up too. No more snacks, no more buying little treats & toys for the boys, no more clothes. So, of course, all I want to do is browse online at the things I can't have. I think I've written before about how much fun this is for me. I'm doing it right now actually, filling wishful online baskets with H&M and GAP goodies or the boys! Anyway, I've compiled a couple of wishlists, my favourite pieces, almost like therapy and torture at once. Forever 21 has some absolute gems at the moment, and their prices are pretty great too!

My creation

Metallic T-Strap Flats These are so cute, and would dress up any jeans and t-shirt combo. I'm imagining them with a black blazer too.

I love a good raglan, and this Raglan Top & Striped Shorts PJ Set looks so comfy!

This Ombré Sweater is gorgeous.

I love jumpers. Polka Dot Sweater, winning.

Life In Progress™ Zip Pocket Skinny Jeans in cobalt, though I literally want these in every colour. I have a problem.

Along with my my coloured trouser obsession, comes a patterned trouser obsession. I love this easy way to update my style. Polka Dot Ankle Pants, I'm loving polka dots too!

TAKING a sip of a very large glass of wine. It's been one of those days.

GIVING everything I can to my boys, it's exhausting. I'm not feeling very well at the moment, just a cold I think, but combined with the lack of sleep it's kicking my butt. It's taking everything I have to get up in the morning and do silly things like make meals & play - things I normally love to do. Fingers crossed it passes soon.

TEACHING patience. Daniel has seriously crossed a barrier into tantrum city recently, it's TOUGH. He's screaming, kicking, flailing around, shouting, the works. It's like he's so worked up he can't stop it. Earlier he screamed for five minutes because he didn't want to go to bed, then straight after continued screaming because he DID want to go to bed. Oh, toddlerhood.

LEARNING patience. We use time-out with Daniel, mostly for me to take a minute and calm down as he just screams for the whole minute. I think it's time to move on to two minutes. It's a consequence for his actions, I think he's learning that. After, we talk about what he did, he apologises and we have a cuddle. He has all these emotions and feelings and just doesn't know how to deal with them, and me getting cross and shouting isn't going to help. My parents never shouted at me, we never argued, and I don't want Daniel's memories of me to be horrible ones - yelling at him or even crying. After he went to bed earlier I cried, inhaled a Snickers and doubted my parenting skills, but I'm doing what I think is best.

LOOKING forward to a girls night this weekend. I'm excited to go out, dress up and have a few drinks, even if I will be coming home early to the boys - though that actually sounds pretty perfect to me!

Mama: Leggings, Tesco // White t-shirt, Primark // Jumper, H&M.
Joshua: Striped tee & bib, Tesco // Trousers, H&M.

Another nursing-friendly style post. I think I've mentioned before how I prefer easy-up styles to breastfed in, rather than tops or dresses that are easier to pull down, just because I feel more comfortable. This jumper is one of my favourites, loose and comfy, perfect paired with leggings or skinny jeans. I think leggings are my 'yoga pants' as I often put them on when I want to be comfy and lazy but I'm not really a sweatpants kind of girl! I'd prefer to just stay in my pyjamas, but sometimes I have to leave the house so leggings are the perfect alternative, and these wine coloured ones are a nice alternative to black without being too OTT. Joshua is definitely a sweatpants kind of boy, he has this particular pair in three colours, and I just can't resist a baby in stripes!

492. 8 months old.

Another month, passed us by even quicker than the last. My littlest boy is fast becoming less of a baby and more of a toddler - he is constantly pulling himself up on anything he can get hold of and has started cruising round the furniture! My Mama says she's seen him stand, just for a second, without holding on too but my heart doesn't want to believe it! It is fun watching him grow and learn - this month he has started saying "Mama", bouncing/dancing when he hears music, clapping on cue (like when I sing "If you're happy and you know it...") and waving "hi"! He's grown too, still mostly in 6-9 month clothing but sleepsuits and dungarees are getting a little snug, I think he's going to be a tall one! I weighed him the other week, at dead on 18lb, so probably closer to 19lb now! Eating solid foods like a pro, mostly finger foods for Mr Independent but some purées to make sure he's getting enough nutrients. Three meals a day, fitting in with our schedule which is actually easier, especially as he often has a variation of what we have. Breakfast is often cheerios and fruit, lunch of toast/rice cakes/crumpets and fruit with yogurt, and dinner is often a meat-purée with rice or pasta & vegetables. It's so funny to watch him eat, especially little things where he grabs them with his whole hand and then wriggles his fingers till it pops out at the top of his fist! His favourite foods are spaghetti bolognaise, cheese and pretty much any fruit! I'm still trying to get him into a routine with feeding, I can't decide whether to drop his mid-morning & afternoon feeds but feed him straight after his solid meals. I'm trying to stop feeding him to sleep, finally, and putting him down in his cot instead, but that deserves a whole post of it's own! Sleeping isn't great at night either, but I'm refusing to speak about it because I'm scared I'll jinx it & it will get worse! During the day he's a happy little soul, sleep or no sleep! His favourite things are towers (specifically knocking them down!), books, and musical instruments. J loves to make noise, and has even started shouting when his brother cries or if we eat in front of him without sharing! His voice sounds a little rougher than Daniel's did, though that may be because there's a cough/cold lurking about. He also makes this crazy squeal that sounds like a baby dinosaur! I always think I'll make these updates short and sweet, but then can't stop thinking of little things to add!

Joshua Reg,

I love the way you laugh, a real belly laugh, when I massage your legs! You're so adorably ticklish!

I love that I'm your favourite, I hope that never changes!

I love the way you look at your brother, gazing with complete adoration, and the bond you two share.

I love the way you bury your head into my shoulder and rub your nose when you're tired - just like Mama your nose just itch when you're sleepy!

I love the way your crawl at top speed to greet Daddy or Grandad when they walk in the door, it's the sweetest!

I love you little dino, to the moon and back!
