Inspired by Meredith who is hosting this awesome link-up & posted a picture of her cookie making to Instagram. Which, obviously, made me want to bake cookies! I really loved, in her introduction to the link-up, where she wrote about wanting her kids to remember the fun they had baking cookies every week. I want that too. & I thought it would be a great activity to do with Daniel, and Millie (my friend's little one, who I'm looking after after pre-school)

I scoured Pinterest immediately & stumbled across this "Secrets to The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie" I haven't had the time to perfect my cookie baking skills, and every time I try they are too crunchy. Read that article, seriously, it's the best thing ever. Our cookies today were AMAZING. Slightly crispy on the outside and soft & chewy in the middle, yum. I learnt to take the cookies out before they looked done too, that they crisp up while cooling. I used the recipe on that link, but as it's all measured in cups I thought I'd post the ingredients in 'my' measurements too. Oh, and I set my oven to 175 degrees Celsius.

- 226.8 grams (8oz) butter, at room temp.
- 330g brown sugar.
- 100g white sugar.
- 2 large eggs, at room temp.
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract.
- 352g all-purpose (plain) flour.
- 1 tsp baking powder.
- 1/2 tsp salt.
- 300g chocolate chips (or smarties!)

I loved cooking with the kiddos, they really enjoyed it too! I measured out all the ingredients while they were at pre-school, to make things easier, and helped with the mixing (creaming the butter and sugar takes serious elbow grease!) I let them take turns adding the ingredients, and they each had their own spoon to mix with. They liked sneaking the smarties the most though! Both were so impatient for the cookies to cook, they kept coming out and asking me how long, and when I told them the cookies were cooling they came to wait in the kitchen! They both gave a big thumbs up, though Daniel was absolutely shattered by the time it came to taste-test (I pushed his nap back so he could play & he went down once his cookie was finished) I may have eaten three so far - though I sent some home with Millie & took some to my parents' so I didn't eat all 18!

Also linking-up with AP, as I found the recipe on Pinterest. Winning.

Lots of Love
