422. Fun Christmas Meme.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate! With a little milk & mini marshmallows on top okay?

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Wrap them! I secretly love wrapping presents, though I did get frustrated on Daniel's first Christmas because he didn't care at all! Haha. I'm ridiculous. Having said that, I probably won't be wrapping Joshua's this year! Especially as his main present is a Learn & Groove activity table!

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Tricky. White, though I do love the colours. I'm a bit of a mad woman when it comes to the three though, everything has to match!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope.

5. When do you put your decorations up? I'm planning on doing it basically as soon as we move, which is the 30th November. Saves putting them up into the loft eh?

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Cauliflower cheese. Not exactly holiday-ish, but I LOVE it and I always get excited when it's served with a roast!

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? One year my parents sent us on a treasure hunt of sorts, around the house, with little rhymes for clues. At the end, my brother and I found out we were going to Disney!

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't even remember. I suck.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No way! Though this year I'm starting the tradition of Christmas pyjamas, popcorn & a festive film for the boys!

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I mentioned I'm pretty anal with the tree. Colin isn't really even allowed to help because he doesn't do it right! I like traditional red and green, and a little gold too.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I love it for like a day. Like really love it! Crunching through fresh snow, wrapping up warm, building snowmen, sledging! Awesome. But then, when it gets all slushy and icy, I'm not such a fan.

12. Can you ice skate? No. Well, a little. One time, early in our relationship, Colin mentioned going and we invited my friend Rachael too. I was like "I actually suck" and they were both like "Yeah, we suck too" but when we arrived THEY BOTH HAD THEIR OWN BOOTS. I smelled a rat right then. They were both brilliant, and spend the remainder of the night dragging me round and trying to give me a heart attack. Never again.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I can't really think of anything! I think one time, I got a bike & it was just there in the middle of the room. I was pretty excited!

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Spending time with everyone I love. And mulled wine.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? I pretty much like most desserts, especially anything involving chocolate.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? We don't really have any traditions - I'm looking forward to starting some with the boys. I'm looking for inspiration, so if you have any special traditions, let me know in the comments!

17. What tops your tree? An angel, but I'd love it to be a star - the top of our tree is long and spindly and doesn't hold much weight!

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I love both. There's something so exciting about thinking of something great for a specific person, something you know they'll love, and waiting to see their reaction when they open it. I like making people happy. But who doesn't like presents!

19. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? Yum!

20. Favorite Christmas show? I love the Santa Clause movies and Elf.

21. Saddest Christmas Song? Isn't that The Pogues song actually full of sad lyrics? I love that song though.

22. What is your favorite Christmas song? That's so tough. I love ALL Christmas songs. Seriously. I can't choose one!

Thanks Jess, via Lyds!

I'm totally in the Christmas spirit this year, I think everyone is! I'm gutted that we can't put our tree up till next week (unlike EVERYONE on my IG feed!!) but it's starting to sink in that it will be our very own house so I'm getting excited! Tomorrow is for more packing, tidying and having lunch out for Colin's Grandad (also know as GG)'s 80th Birthday! Happy Weekend!

Lots of Love

  1. Have you thought about doing the Elf on the Shelf? We don't do anything crazy with ours, just move him every night (and he's sent the occasional note to the boys for misbehaving) but I love that it's a simple but exciting tradition that my kids look forward to every year.

  2. I love this meme, am so going to do it later today :) I want to comment on every single answer, but will restrict myself to just a few! I hope Joshua loves his learn and groove, we used our daily from about 5 months to literally last month, when he suddenly decided he no longer wanted to go in it.

Having their own ice skates - HA! At least Colin can teach the boys when they're older.

Traditions - pyjamas is such a great one, I also grew up with the Boxing Day fairy which I'll be doing with Charlie this year. You basically hang a decoration with a pouch in it on the tree along with all the others (mine was a felt cat my brother's was a pig), then on Boxing Day you check and see if the fairy has left you any money! I think we started out with small change, and then went up to £1 (it has to be shiny). My parent's did it right up until about 3 years ago (when Charlie was due to arrived) and I loved it, it helped spread the Xmas magic to another day!
