[The most beautiful dress, that I can't find the source for! Please let me know if you know!]

I'm really struggling on where to start with this wedding planning lark. Everything I read says to sort a budget first, but I feel like I can't set a realistic budget until I have some ideas on prices! I can't even decide on numbers until I know what we can afford, though that might be a good place to start. We want an August 2015 wedding, so the boys will be old enough to be a part of it too. I want to get started so we can send out Save the Dates, as people are likely to holiday in August but it'll be the only time I'll be off work & the weather will (hopefully) be good!

The colour scheme is pinks, whites & maybe some apricot/nude shades too. I'm thinking grey suits for the boys, & mix'n'match type pink dresses for the girls. I'm not sure about my dress, I think I'll leave that till a little nearer the time!

I'd like the decor to be quite simple. I may or may not have already started collecting jars to use as centerpieces, either filled with flowers or candles. I'm totally taken with the glitter tablecloth, and dress, so hopefully Colin won't mind a few girly touches! I'd love the whole place to be full of flowers, but I know that'll be way expensive, so I'm hoping to find some good fake ones! Roses are my favourite but I love the look of the wilder flowers too!

A while back Colin mentioned getting married (or at least having the reception) in a barn, which I wasn't keen on at the time but now I'm thinking would be so cute! & a great way to save money, rather than being made to pay for stuff we don't actually need on a package deal. I'd also like to do as much of the planning/decor etc as I can, to get everything just as i want. I sound like bridezilla already! The idea of a hog roast/buffet is growing on me too, less formal & more laid back which is more out personality!

Colin's out tonight, and after a terrible night last night I'm already snuggled in bed with some treats & plan on blogging for the next half hour & then getting an early night! Please do let me know any wedding planning advice you have - I really have no idea what I'm doing!!

Lots of Love

  1. Oh I'd say figure out your budget and then decide what is the most important (is your dress more important than fresh flowers, etc) Price out the big important items first and then you'll know how much you'll have left for the less important stuff :) Oh yeah, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the picture with all the bridesmaids in different shades of pink dresses, beautiful!!

    1. Thanks Heidi, that does sound like a good plan! I think I need to do some research into realistic costs before I can budget, so that's top of my list! & numbers!! I like the idea of figuring importance though!! Xxx

  2. My advice - it is just one day. Remember that. It can be hectic and expensive or comfortable and relaxing. Love the barn idea.

We did a cookout/picnic - inexpensive comfort foods everyone loves. I decorated the tables with leaves and petals with candles instead of expensive floral center pieces. I had my bouquet made so when I untied it, it split into 4 small bouquets. I kept one, tossed one and gave the other two to my mom and mother-in-law at the reception. Since the florist usually does a toss one for free - she did a bridesmaid for free instead. Get a good photographer and good music. We messed up on the music end - but it was all okay.

Everything you save on the wedding - spend on the honeymoon. Multiple days in a row with you and your hubby in an amazing place - priceless.

    1. They're some fantastic ideas, thankyou for sharing!! I like the idea of candles & petals as centerpieces! I'd live to do everything myself, get it exactly how I want it, but I am afraid U'll stress out too much! Thanks again! Xxx
