Highlights: hot days calling for ice-lollies, cooling down in the paddling pool/water tray, brother love and cuddles, my babyboy picking flowers for us, watching Daddy BBQ our dinner, lazy Sunday mornings with Daddy, Joshua meeting his Great-Grandparents. Can't complain at all really! This week is supposed to be cooler and wetter, but I think we'll still have fun!

331. Baking cookies [SBL]

Another activity on our Summer Bucket List was baking cookies. I'm yet to find the 'perfect' recipe, but I'm having fun trying! I decided to get Daniel in on the action, he loves 'helping' at the moment, and doing whatever I'm doing! I thought about using a packet mix, but prefer baking from scratch and decided a little more mess wouldn't hurt! Daniel helped me find each ingredient, and pour it into the weighing scales. When Daniel's a little older we'll talk about weighing and measuring in more detail, cooking is a great maths activity, but it would be over his head right now. Daniel liked the tipping and mixing the best, and was very gracious at turn-taking with me to get things done. Actually, he liked stealing the chocolate chips the very best! He was so proud of himself, he couldn't wait to try them (& exclaim "yum yum yum!") and told everyone we saw that we'd made "coo-coos"! I loved including Daniel in something I love to do too, it was great fun! Next we're going to make cupcakes!

Raspberry and white chocolate cookies.

Ingredients.
1/2 cup of butter (113g)
1/2 cup of brown sugar (100g)
1/2 cup of white sugar (100g)
1 egg
1 tbsp vanilla essence
2 cups of plain flour (256g)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup frozen raspberries
3/4 cup of white chocolate chips (76g)

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees centigrade.
2. Cream the butter and sugars.
3. Add the egg and vanilla essence.
4. Mix in the flour and baking powder.
5. Stir in the chocolate chips and frozen raspberries.
6. Drop tablespoons of the mixture onto a tray lined with baking paper.
7. Bake for 15-20 minutes.

And voila. We don't have any photos of the finished cookies, we had friends over for a playdate and they didn't last long enough!

330. Paddling pool. Pouring and splashing [SBL]

This week has been so brilliantly hot, we just had to bust out the paddling pool! I put it in a shaded area, got Daniel's swim trunks and towel ready, and sun-creamed him up (for the millionth time that day!) He got so excited, running backwards and forwards with me while I filled it up, and jumped in as soon as I said it was ready! He ran back into his kitchen and got the cups himself, while I grabbed a couple of jugs some bowls and sponges (that I had picked up that morning from Poundland) so he could explore pouring the water into the different containers. This kept him entertained for absolutely ages, he kept getting out, wandering off but soon coming back. His beautiful Godmother Danica was a great sport, holding whatever jug/bowl/cup was asked of her while Daniel poured water into it, and all over her! He liked pouring with the jugs the best, and squeezing the water out of the sponges.

I've been doing a lot of solo-parenting this week, Colin's out again tonight, and it's really taking it's toll. I'm watching The Bachelor with a Diet Coke (caffeine free, but I can't even taste the difference!) & my littlest man, before heading for an early night! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My littlest Babyboy and I, enjoying snuggles, probably while the biggest slept. Having him lying on my chest is possibly my favourite thing, it makes my heart so full.

Today we had a crazy-hot-fun-filled day, and by dinner time I was beat. Colin worked late again, I was late starting dinner because Joshua was feeding, I was just freaking out because everything wasn't under control. I walked into the living room to find Daniel laying on the floor next to Joshua, holding his hand. After that, nothing seemed quite as stressful or important, and I may have cried a little. Happy tears, of course. Happy that I have two wonderful boys. It didn't matter that dinner was a few minutes late, or that I fed Joshua while eating, or even that Daniel went to bed late because i wanted to spend a little more time with them, splashing in the bath. My boys love me, that's what matters.

{When the boys were in the bath the other night, Daniel reached over to place his hand on Joshua's chest and said "Me got-got you baby", just like I do. I won't lie, my heart melted into a puddle and I cried. & Whenever Joshua cries Daniel tells him, in the cutest soft voice, "It's aw-ight baby, it's aw-ight" and leans over to cuddle or kiss him. I could not be any prouder of him. I am so, so glad we have given him a little brother, this was what he was meant to do.}

{I went to get Joshua weighed this morning, my teeny tiny baby already weighs 9lb 7oz! We're doing good!}

A lovely, busy, sunny day! We even managed to shoot into town to run some errands, including sorting Joshua's passport and bank account, before it got too hot and busy. I love this weather, it makes me so happy, and will be making the most of every second until it rains again (which, according to my weather app, is Friday.) Another thing making me happy? Planning a cocktail night with my girls, so excited! Any recommendations we have to try?

326. Sidewalk Chalk [SBL]

Sidewalk chalk is a regular activity in our garden, Daniel loves drawing & thinks this is fantastic! He often requests for me to draw things, & obviously I oblige, while he 'copies'. Daddy & Mummy, and then the rest of our family, are normally the number one asks, closely followed by car/bus/boat/any vehicle that springs to mind. I also like to draw out what we are focusing on (shapes) and use it as a learning tool. Definitely worth the investment, though ours only cost a couple of pounds at most and have lasted us forever (though that could be because of our terrible weather...) Recently, Daniel has started shouting "SO COOL!" whenever he draws on the floor, so there's that.

Today has been pretty awesome. There was a lot of walking for Daniel, which as we know can be v-e-r-y s-l-o-w & kinda stressful, so I'm looking into buying a buggy board to help limit the grey hairs that I can practically feel coming! We went to a toddler group this morning, which Daniel loves and basically leaves me at the door to go play, then came home for lunch and a nap (Daniel napped, I browsed eBay and spent too long on the pone, on hold) My friend Hollie came over this afternoon, and we played in the garden before heading to the shops for ice-creams, then to my Mum's for dinner. We even stopped at the park on the way home, but Joshua screamed the whole time, and the whole way home until I got him out for a cuddle. Pickle. In other news, my knee has bruised like woah, and my right leg hurts too! Poor me. An early night and some pretend shopping will make me feel better!

Highlights include: My first solo shopping trip with both boys, we got a few treats! // Floor picnics, while watching Cars // Brother snugs, everyday // A busy morning at toddlers had Daniel falling asleep eating his lunch // Introducing numbers with playdough // Adding toppings to make an amazing pizza // Finally, sun!! // Sleeping baby cuddles after getting the housework done // Spending the afternoon at my parents' house, eating and sunbathing!

Yesterday I was running back to the car & my ankles gave way, my knee got grazed & it's all bruised and swollen now! I feel so silly, & it's made me fairly determined to get fit after my 8-week Dr check!

Joshua's FIVE weeks old already! I'm trying not to get upset at how fast it's passing by and focus instead on really soaking up as much of him as I can! Even if that does mean ridiculous amounts of cuddles on my chest & much less time getting comfortable in his Moses basket, he will only be this little once & I'll miss it so much once he gets too big!

I'm loving spending so much time with my boys, we have a fun filled week planned next week too - Toddlers, lunch/coffee-dates with friends, and making the most of the sun with our Summer Bucket List!
