294. Daniel's Day.

I thought it would be cute to document a 'Day in the Life' of Damiel, before everything changes. Everone's always asking if he's excited or even aware of the new baby coming and although he knows what a baby is, and even that one will be coming to our house (we talk about it daily) which he does seem happy about, he really has no idea about the disruption it's going to cause! I can only hope that he continues to be the sweet, independent kiddo he is with another little boy around taking all my attention! But anyway, yesterday I took a bunch of photos, and this is pretty much a typical day for us at the moment. It'll be fun to look back and see how different things are!

Daniel has been waking up ridiculously early this week, I blame the mega naps (which I also love!) but he normally sleeps until around 7am when Colin gets up for work. Currently, he's loving water and demands to get in the shower with Colin each morning, then with me, and then would still play in there happily for another half an hour if we let him (which I may or may not have done after a particularly early morning this week!) Squeaky clean, we get dressed & Daniel potters around upstairs, often cleaning his teeth or mimicking me, while I put my makeup on. He's such a copycat, and will pretend with an empty powder pot and brush that he's doing his 'make-make', or insist that Colin sprays him with deodorant too! He also likes to help, and will instruct Colin on what he needs to get next when getting dressed ("Shirt Daddy! Belt!") & aides him with the buckling of said belt without fail. Colin leaves for work while we're getting ready, and then we go downstairs for breakfast.
I give Daniel a selection of cereals to choose from and he selects his own spoon too, I like to try and involve him with everything. He often has Cheerios or rice snaps, with fruit juice (watered down) and maybe a banana (his appetite hasn't been great this week) and I'll have cereal and juice too. We sit together, often with the radio on, and I'll check my Facebook/emails etc while we eat.
This particular morning Daniel was feeling a little under the weather and asked (very sweetly) to watch Toy Story 2, again. I try and limit the TV we watch during the day but he loves Woody (and Jesse, and Buzz, and Bullseye...) and I needed to do some tidying up so I caved, and he snuggled down while I sorted the dishwasher, put some washing on and some out on the line, picked up toys and cleaned the bathroom.

After Toy Story (I may have been distracted from my cleaning by a little boy asking for cuddles!) we had a snack, as it was around 10am. Pain au Chocolate for Mama, bananas for Babyboy. Nanny called and asked if we wanted to go to the park, we were supposed to go and feed the ducks but Daniel was getting very tired already so we just headed round the corner.

Daniel, not unusually, spent the whole time on a swing. We headed home after about 20 minutes (Mama's arms were tired & stroppy boy wouldn't let Nanny push!) & Daniel went upstairs for a nap at about half 11. I wasn't convinced he would sleep for very long, so early, and thought he'd be up for lunch. I tend to keep him up until after lunch, fill that belly up and guarantee a longer nap and a well rested baby! My Mum stayed and we talked for a little while, I read blogs and browsed the H&M sale online while Daniel slept for a little over two hours!

Lunchtime! Beans on toast, as requested. I'd text my Mum because Daniel was upset she was gone when he woke up, so she came over again for a cup of tea and to play in the garden. I'm nervous to be on my own at the moment, I'm worried about scaring Daniel if I go into labour, and she has the week off so we're almost inseparable. It's really nice and I have no idea what we'll do next week if I haven't had the baby yet!

Daniel spent his time outside picking us flowers, making tea in his house and digging in Daddy's mud. I have no idea what I'd do if we didn't have a garden, we're out there every day and Daniel mostly amuses himself while I sit and watch! He decided Anouilh was enough after about an hour and we headed inside for another snack.

Strawberries and chocolate buttons were on the menu, and devoured within minutes. I quickly hoovered while Daniel cowered on the sofa, he's not exactly scared, just not a fan of the noise!

Puzzles. This kiddo could spend hours doing puzzles, and he's seriously good at them. I sit with him and talk about the pictures, helping if need be and encouraging him to try, but he does them basicslly by himself!
Untitled
Painting, another one of Daniel's favourite activities. It doesn't usually last very long, about twenty minutes depending on the brushes/sponges I provide but I love watching him get creative and explore the paint. He doesn't like to get messy very much but occasionally he'll get very stuck in!

We read stories every day, often the same couple (The Gruffalo, Dear Zoo, Green Eggs and Ham, whatever library books we have) over and over but I don't mind. I loved reading as a kid and I hope Daniel does too. I think I'm going to order him a few new books actually, he loves looking through them even without me and that's ideal if I'm caring for a newborn.

Pasta with tomato and cheese sauce, broccoli and sweetcorn for dinner. Usually we all eat together and Daniel has a variation of what we have too, but Colin was out so Daniel ate solo. Nana and Grandad came over mid-meal too so he didn't finish, but he did eat most of the pasta. His appetite isn't great at the moment, I'm not sure if he has a bit of an upset tummy or if it's just a phase but I'm not too worried.

Rockin' out before bed. We've always had a bedtime routine with Daniel, at 7pm he has a bath and plays until about half past, then pyjamas, Goodnight Moon and bed. It works for us! I didn't get any pictures because I was bathing solo and left my phone downstairs, fail.
Once he's in bed Colin and I relax on the sofa. I should do something productive but I just don't have the energy, so Colin often takes over the TV and I blog from my iPad. Romantic, haha. We like it!

Wow. That was lengthy! I had better wrap it up, hopefully (this is scheduled) I'll have an announcement to make soon! Come on baby!

Lots of Love

    1. Thankyou! Awh, I'd hate to not have one - Daniel LOVES being outside!! I use a Blogger app, and I use Flickr to host my photos so I just copy the links in! Easy peasy! I can't link though, or center my pictures! :P xxx
