263. Happy Birthday Colin!

My incredible fiance turns 21 today, Happy Birthday baby!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

(I'm also entering this top photo in The Paper Mama's photo challenge! This week the challenge is happiness, perfect huh?!)

Holly from Hollydays has started a cute little linky-party to celebrate our guys, as they don't feature enough on our blogs! I thought it was adorable, and what better way to celebrate my favourite man's birthday?!

These photos are from last weekend, I grabbed my camera while my boys were playing so I could capture the moments that were melting my heart! There are, erm, quite a few! One of Daniel's favourite games is building and knocking down towers. He's really funny because he uses other things, like his foot or Mater, to knock them down and blames them instead! Cheeky!

I am so incredibly lucky to have found Colin. We were very young when we met (I suppose we still are!), 18 and 19, but things have always been different with him. I'm not sure I believe in love at first sight, but I did fall in love with Colin very quickly, and I fall more and more in love with him each day!!

I couldn;t ask for a better Daddy for my boys, than in Colin. He works SO hard to support us (until recently he worked 12 hour days, but thankfully he's changed jobs now and the hours are much more reasonable!!) and I am so proud of him for that. He now works at a recruitment agency, which is tough but he's very good at it, I'm so happy it's worked out for him.

When we had Daniel, Colin had never changed a nappy before, but he is such a natural Daddy, and Daniel obviously adores him! I think it's easier for him now Daniel's older and can interact and communicate more, instead of when he was a baby and more-or-less constantly attached to me! Still, I can't wait to see him with  our new little bundle, there's just something about a man with a baby, amiright?

Basically, Colin has mine (and our boys') heart forever and ever. He made me the happiest girl in the world when he asked me to be his wife, and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him!

So there's my sappy post on the amazing man in my life. I hope he has a wonderful birthday, though he got his present last week so this morning was a little anti-climactic (especially as I maybe forgot a little bit. Baby brain damnit!) but we're going to my Mum's for dinner and I might even make him a cake!

261. Embrace the Camera [003]

Things have been a little quiet here the last few days, it has taken me three days to back-up, update and restore my iPhone!! Crazy! But it's done (though I've lost my apps, but I've given up with it!) & I'm back with some  adorable (if I do say so myself) selfies of me and my boy. What would I do without the iPhone?!

Linking up to the anderson crew for Embrace the Camera, where they've just celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary! Congratulations!! :)

Daniel was a little off yesterday, and the cat's just gone and had the snip, so we're all feeling very sorry for ourselves over hurr. Daniel seems fine today, I'm leaning towards blaming those dang molars because he keeps chewing his cup, and randomly running over whining for cuddles, which I don't mind at all!! My poor Milo's very snuggly too, I feel so bad for him with a giant cone on, but he seems to be getting used to it!

260. Our Week in iPhone Pictures [032]

My creation
My creation

Excuse the giant pictures. I'm still extremely pissed at Google for taking away my easy collage option, and forcing me in at the deep end. I loved picnic because it was so easy, just dragging and dropping from my Flickr photostream into lovely collages, but for now Mosaic Maker will have to do. I was going to do a day at a time, but I got impatient, boo.

Monday, we had a lazy pyjama day before I had to go back to work. Stickers, snuggles, and building towers were on the menu. Daniel actually fell asleep on me and it was the most adorable thing ever! He ran up for a snuggle when next door started drilling, and next thing I knew he was out! It broke my heart but I had to wake him, there was no way he was going to sleep properly there, but he  had a strop and demanded to watch the end of Cars. Boys. Grandad popped over and got attacked by a spider, and Daniel started up shop with another birthday present.

Tuesday, I was proud of my achievement to stay on the sofa the whole afternoon, while still playing. We did lots of puzzles, practiced our letter sounds and read books.

Wednesday, we went for a long walk in the rain, splashed in zillions of puddles & ended up at Grandma's house, where Daniel got to play with funny Lewis. Then we went to Nanny and Grandad's for dinner, and Daniel cozied up in their bed.

Thursday, I forgot cupcakes were messy, we played in the garden and got cheeky during a bath. Friday, I apparantly didn't take any pictures, except that Daddy snuggles one, but I'm too tired to check that now!

Saturday, Daniel and I chilled out while Daddy took Milo to the vets for a check up, and after that we went on a family trip to Toys'R'Us. Colin got his birthday present early (an iPad!), because I'm the best basically. More tower building, and looking very proud of them, and half naked story reading (after running around and around the house for 30 minutes, crazy boy!).

Sunday, Mater joined us for breakfast while Daddy went to play golf, and we scooted to Grandad's to build more towers and rock out.

Linking up with Amy at a good life, duh.

Right now though, I'm SO uncomfortable, so I think I'll grab some chocolate and go lie in bed!! Colin's bending my ear with car talk & the football's on, so it's looking very appealing!

259. 2 year/24 months old!

This will probably be the last monthly post I do for Daniel, sob. But I had some adorable cake pictures to share, and he's just started to do some seriously cute things, so I've been jotting them down. I might do a half-yearly update, or just try and write things as they happen, we'll see!

At 2 years/24 months, Daniel Kyle:

  • gives awesome hugs, and wraps his arms so tightly round your neck. There's no saying no to a "ca-ca" from this boy, he's so incredibly loving.

  • loves puzzles, gets his toys (Buzz, the dog etc) to "help". He asked for "hewp" & says "look!" "come!", pulling on your hands if you're not fast enough!

  • pretends to cook, brings Mama "tea" and "toast", asks if you'd like a knife and fork, tea and milk? He hoovers too, even though the actual hoover still terrifies him & he has to lie on the sofa.

  • mimicks words and sounds constantly, he's always amazing me. He's starting to say 2+ words together, such as "Daddy look!", and commentate/explain what he's doing.

  • repeats words over and over until you reply, it's entertaining unless it's "Mamamamamamamamama"!

  • holds, and even remembers to ask for, hands when crossing/near a road. Safety first.

  • knows when he's being "cheeky" & always trying to make us laugh. One of his favourite games is to steal your chair if you vacate it, and squeal!

  • is incredibly independent, always playing by himself despite my constant efforts to get down to his level and interact! He chooses his own shoes and socks (boots are our fave, even in hotter weather!), helps me dress him and can nearly entirely undress himself!

  • shares food and drink with his toys, but teases Mama & Dada, offering it to us and taking it away at the last minute!

  • can count to three, knows quite a few colours (red, blue, green, white, black, pink) & some shapes. He really impressed his childminder this week with his language developing over the last two. Knows most animals and their noises too, and is starting to sing along with songs (his favourite non-nursery rhyme is LMFAO I'm sexy and I know it, and he loves to wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah! It's adorable.)

  • has a definite obsession with Toy Story and Cars! "Mate" and "Woowee" are his favourites, but he loves them all! We went to Toys'R'Us today for him to spend his birthday voucher, he chose A McQueen car, a Mater car, a Peppa Pig treasure puzzle, and we got him two posters for his room (Cars and TY of course!). He LOVED the big toy shop, running around and staring at everything! It was exhausting but so so cute!

258. 32 week pregnancy update!

32 weeks (+3). Only 8 weeks until he's here!

Today we got to see babyboy again, at our ultrasound. By we, I mean me and my Mama. Fab news, my placenta's moved, woohoo! No longer blocking the exit, which leaves me free to have a natural birth! It's actually more common for a low-lying placenta to not move, but I can't say I wasn't starting to worry a little. I'm so pleased!

I  weighed myself at my Mum's this week, eek. When I started, at about 12 weeks, I was 55kg. Now I'm 67! I don't know how much weight I put on with Daniel actually, but the internets says that is about average so I feel a little better. Baby's the size of a squash, "weighs in at about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds and measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches" which at least accounts for, umm, 2 of those kg!

Living in leggings at the moment, as I'm back to work and the weather's been horrible - tons of rain and cold temperatures - so my UGGs have barely been off my swollen feet either! Daniel's loving this rainy weather though, he loves puddle jumping! I've ordered some pyjamas, flip flops and slippers for my hospital bag, and a maxi skirt & cardigan to replace the zillion things I've grown out of!

I realised yesterday that my current favourite name, along with the other names we've chosen, would give our son the initials ARS. That sounds like arse! Which I would feel absolutely awful about, but I'm really disappointed! A friend suggested we use my surname as another middle name, which I love the idea of! Fingers crossed Colin comes round too!

I am crazy hormonal today. Babyboy is head down so I'm getting some hefty kicks in the ribs, and I think some Braxton Hicks too. I keep bursting into tears, poor Colin's been absolutely wonderful, but I bet he's scared to death! I've just cried for an hour straight because his Birthday surprise has been  ruined - I secretly bought him an iPad, but he's just gone and bought himself one too, cue emotional breakdown. But it's not the end of the world, and he's even managed to make me giggle about it.

I haven't really written a birth plan. I wonder if I need to, as Colin & my Mum will be with me and they know I'd like to go as natural as possible, and last time no one even asked or looked at it. I've been Pinterest-ing hospital bags, even though I've done it once before, and I think I'm going to pack a couple of seperate bags (Labour, Baby, etc) because I like the idea of being organised. I am also looking at getting a proper feeding pillow, with Daniel I used an average v-shaped pillow which was fine, but I'm used to sleeping with that behind my head now so I think I might need a new one! Any suggestions?

Colin's home tonight for the first night out of four, so I'm going to snuggle!

257. Embrace the Camera [002]

Another bunch of selfies, taken on Daniel's birthday.Of course, Luigi and Mater had to get in on the action too!

Linking up with the anderson crew, encouraging Mamas to embrace the camera, one day you'll appreciate that you did!

256. Wordless[ish] Wednesday. Birthday Boy!

[Wednesday night we laid out all Daniel's presents, covered the floor with balloons, ready to get him up early as Colin had to work. His little face was priceless!]

[The balloons definitely went down well! They're still out now!]

[This kiddo became a pro at present and card opening this year, he's never really shown an interest before.]

[Goal celebration!]

[Present opening with Nana. Those pyjamas he's wearing were a present, he took his own clothes off and demanded to put them on!]

[Choo choo!]

[Within minutes he was whizzing around on his balance bike, I was so impressed!!]

[I think he had a good day!]
