242. Easter fete!

Last week we went to the Easter Fete at the school I work at, with my cousins and Grandad. Daniel had a blast, seeing all the little farm animals, egg hunting, decorating biscuits and eggcups!

Daniel was really funny, showing my cousin Lewis (his favourite person!) everything and demanding his attention! He got the hang of egg hunting (well, canister hunting) and I can;t wait to do a hunt here for him! I thought he would be too young for it again but I'm excited to do LOADS of Easter crafts and activities with him!

Speak of the devil, he's just woken up!

241. 29 week pregnancy update!

[My Flickr account has expired & Daniel was the last person to be seen with my online banking card, so as soon as I track it down I'll post a bump picture!]

29 weeks (+2) already, wow. That's nearly 30, which is like three quarters of the way! (We've been doing fractions at school, could you tell?) I've decided to do things a little differently on this little blog, with less structure and more personal posting. I'll still post the same things, pregnancy updates, iPhone pictures etc, just with more chat. I particularly love blogs where you really feel like you get to know the writer, and I want mine to be like that too, fingers crossed!

Back to the bebe, TheBump tells me that this week he's grown to 15.2-16.7 inches, roughly the size of an acorn squash, which seems absolutely massive! He's still got another 10 weeks in there, growin'! Oh Lord, I've just read more "Right now, we weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds but he's still got a ways to go -- can you believe he'll triple in weight before birth?" Ohmyfreakinggosh. I've been thinking so far that he's going to come early, and be quite small, but the size of my tummy is beginning to worry me. I'm roughly the size I was when I had Daniel, already, and I read somewhere the second baby is averagely 5oz bigger than the first! Daniel was 8lb 8oz! I've also put on weight on my back, which seems bizarre, and I hope it goes away! Luckily though, I still haven;'t discovered any stretch marks, I am about to slather myself with some cocoa-butter moisturiser! My scar from my belly bar is looking particularly shiny, however.

Sleep is, difficult. Mostly due to this terrible cold, as soon as I lie down my nose stops working, and I keep waking with a dry mouth. Nightmares, the temperature and nausea have also had a hand in my lack-of-sleep, though I am sleeping 7-8 hours a night so I can't really complain!

My cravings have died down a little now, I'm just constantly hungry. Colin often laughs at me when I announce I'm going to have a bedtime snack, but baby needs it! My metabolism is working at top speed so I'm having to eat little and often, no complaints here!

In three weeks we get to have another scan, to check on my low-lying placenta. Fingers firmly crossed it moves because the thought of a c-section terrifies me! More so than regular labour, although that's also pretty high on the scale. I'm not as petrified as I was with Daniel though, I guess I know it's worth it, and my labour with him wasn't even really that bad! Hopefully this one will just pop on out. Speaking of "this one" I still hate that he doesn't have a name, even though I know it's not important yet!

Today we had the best day, and spent the afternoon at the park. I genuinely thought I was going to go into labour, Daniel kept demanding I go down the slide with him! But I'm so tired now, I'm going to curl up with a magazine and paint my nails (if I can reach my feet!).

240. Our Week in iPhone Pictures [028]

Wednesday Thursday
Friday Saturday

Monday we chilled, alot. I'm finding Mondays pretty hard at the moment, going back to work & walking to pick Daniel up after a weekend off, so we spend a lot of the afternoon lazing around, watching a film.
Also? Lots of bath fun! He lined those ducks up all by himself, proud Mama moment!

Tuesday we stopped at the park on the way home and I sat in the stroller watching my nearly-two-year-old navigate the slide by himself, trying not to cry. Yeah, I'm an emotional wreck. Puzzles, tickle-fights, and colander-Buzz-Lightyear-hat wearing also went down.
My boys snuggled and read stories together, and I held back the tears, again.Damn you pregnancy hormones!

Wednesday we went to Grandma's, and practiced jumping. Daniel was a ham at dinner. And that is all.

Thursday we played at the park with a friend, i.e. we chased our children around like lunatics and barely spoke. But the boys had fun, Daniel mastered the big curly slide and gave me numerous heart attacks. Oh, he also got a busted lip from falling over & a scratch in the face by a vicious little girl, poor baby! So we went home to play with Daddy in the garden & eat spaghetti, it was a good day.

Friday we went to Colin's Grandad's funeral. We took Daniel because that's what we do. He looked beyond adorable in his suit 'like Daddy' & hammed it up for his audience, who appreciated the distraction. Then we went home and worked hard in the garden, because it was lovely out, again!

Saturday we spent more time outside, soaking up the sun. I had a glorious two hour sunbathing session while Daniel napped, and my boy came out to join me (sans trousers) when he woke up, to blow some bubbles. Daniel had a whale of a time with some stickers Nanny bought him before dinner, and acted like a crazy child before bed. Of course.

Sunday we went to the Easter Egg Hunt at school, more pictures to follow.

Linking up with Amy at a good life.

239. Happy Monday!

From last week, playing in the garden. My weekly photo dump is taking longer than I thought tonight so I'll leave you with these gems. I'm not feeling too great, think I might be coming down with a cold, so I'm off for an early night pretty soon!

Daniel has started waggling his finger and shouting. Seemingly, not at anything/anyone in particular but it's hilarious. Where do kiddos get this stuff?

His favourite game? Jumping out and yelling "BOO!"

Happy Monday!

238. Currently.

Obsessing Over: Catching up on blogs and commenting. Seriously, I am a terrible commenter, and I hate that. I'm promising to be better.

Working On: Daniel's 2nd Birthday. It's less than three weeks away and I need to get my butt into gear. I've got the invites printed so I just need to deliver them, Nanny's printing everything else at work, I need to make crayons for the favour bags, decide on a list of food, sort the garden, print photos from the 24 months of Daniel's life. Wow. I'm sure I'll post a full freakout soon.

Thinking About: Baby names, always. We still can;t decide and it's bugging me.

Anticipating: Spring! We're supposed to have a lovely, warm week, and I'm already planning to spend 90% of our time outside. Let's just hope my body's up to that too!

Listening to: Colin playing FIFA on the XBOX, & Daniel's lullabies from upstairs.

Eating: Nothing, though I do feel a little peckish. Some grapes maybe, or some chocolate. Or both, what the hell.

Wishing, Hoping, Praying: For the babyboy I'm carrying, everyday. Even though he's being a pain today, lying in a way which is really hurting my back, I'm already overwhelmed at the love I feel for him.

I love this little idea from Danielle at Sometimes Sweet, sharing little things that I wouldn't usually find a place to blog about.

237. 28 week pregnancy update!

How far along: 28 weeks and 3 days :)

How big is baby: The size of a rutabaga, though I don't know what that is! Weighing around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds, and measuring from 13.6-14.8 inches, this kiddo is seriously growing!

Maternity clothes: Yep. Living in my jeans at the weekend, & leggings at work!

Stretch marks: No!

Sleep: Not fab. I keep rolling onto my back & waking up feeling really nauseous :( & Colin's given me a cough so I keep waking up and it hurts to swallow, so I'm finding it difficult to fall back to sleep. Oh, woe is me!

Best moment this week: Hearing babyboy's heart at the midwife last week. Our check was ridiculously quick, but everything seems fine and we got to hear that healthy sounding little ticker! One of my favourite parts!

Belly button in or out: Out, officially, I've accepted it now!

Craving: Everything unhealthy, so it seems! Nothing major though!

What I miss: Walking to get Daniel without feeling like I'm going to keel over :(

What am I looking forward to: Meeting this little man! I've crossed the line this week from being mostly nervous to excited!

I'm currently lazing on the sofa with a bowl of ice cream, contemplating an early night. We've had a busy day, starting with Colin's Grandad's funeral, and ending with a BBQ but now I'm shattered! Trying to think of something to do tomorrow too, it's supposed to be lovely & Daniel's requested rabbits, so hopefully we'll think of somewhere!

236. Monkeys and rabbits and birds, oh my!

Last weekend, while Colin was away, we went on a little trip to Beale Park Wildlife Park and Gardens with my parents. After waving Daddy off, eating cereal for breakfast, packing a bag and a quick clean of the kitchen, it only took us about half an hour to drive to the park. Little man fell asleep on the way, but I woke him with a kiss after a while, so we could start our adventure.

Go, go, go.

Daniel decided he was no longer a baby, he didn;t need to sit in his pushchair, rather walk alongside (or way in front) splashing in puddles. Ridiculously, we didn't come prepared with wellington boots, but Daniel was a diamond and came straight out of any puddles I told him were too big, searching for another. He had so much fun, running from puddle to puddle, animal to animal, exploring.

Holding hands with Grandad. Be still, my heart.

We saw a great variety of animals, some so bizarre I've forgotten their names, and Daniel waved & smiled at everyone. Though his favourites were the rabbits and the monkeys, not the birds.

We went on a little train, I held tight to my little man as he turned his head back and forth to see the animals on either side. He yelled "choo-choo", so exited about the ride.

The little mounds of mud were obviously one of the highlights of the day, as were the chips for lunch...

My brave boy fed the little baby ducks, taking feed from Grandad;s hands and poking it though the fence, giggling when they quacked & gobbled it up.

We came to an area for picnics, with benches, deer and even a zip-line swing! Definitely a hit. Nanny and Grandad took it in turns to run back and forth, listening to their grandson giggling. They would do anything for that kiddo.

Once we had seen all the anmimals, and someone started to get a little grumpy, we headed for the park on the way out. A park with slides, swings and a giant sandpit. Nanny and Daniel played for quite a while with a spade and a cup, making castles!

Thankyou, Nanny and Grandad, for a lovely day out. Let's do it again soon!
